Welcome to the very first entry of my dungeness crab meat recipes post where I will be posting some recipes that I have tried and enjoyed. Today I will be discussing the dungeness crab pasta. This crab recipe was found using prawns and bacon but I thought I would try using crabs instead.
The Crab Meat Recipes:
For this crab meat recipe, we would need 1/4 cup of butter, 5 cloves of minced garlic, a lemon/lime, 2 tablespoon of chopped mints, 1 pound of pasta ( 1 full package), garlic powder, seasoning salt, and 2 to 3 pounds of crab meat.
Others have used different recipes but I used what ever I had in my kitchen and it worked out great. For instance, the chopped mint can be replaced with parsley or basil. The crab meat calls for cooked snow crab but any type of cooked crab meat such as blue crab, imitation crab or dungeness crab will do. If you want to be adventurous, try out all of the crabs and call it the supreme crab pasta!
Crab Meat Recipes: Step By Step.
Begin with boiling water in a pot big enough to contain your 1 pound of pasta. I add a bit of salt into the water to speed up the boiling process. Once the water starts to boil, put the pasta into the pot. Follow the instruction on the pasta package to determine when the pasta is finished. I taste test the pasta to make sure it is soft enough which is a personal preference. Once the pasta fully cooks, drain the water and place the pasta in a strainer for now.
Next step is to melt the butter in the pot. Use low heat so the butter does not burn. When your butter melts, throw in the minced garlic and keep stirring so the garlic does not burn. Stir for about 15 seconds then put in all of the crab meat. Keep stirring to make sure all of the crab is coated with the buttery garlic sauce. It is finished when the crab turns slightly brown. Pour the buttery garlic crab into a plate and leave it aside for now. Sprinkle the chopped mints on top for extra flavor.
Next step is to season the pasta. Pour the pasta (that was left aside in the strainer) into the pot. Sprinkle some garlic powder and seasoning salt into the pasta while stirring everything under low heat. This step should only take three to five minutes. Once done, put the pasta onto a separate plate. Now portion an amount of pasta on a separate plate and scoop some buttery garlic crab on top of the pasta. squeeze some lemon on top of the dish and it is ready to be served. This crab meat recipe can serve up to four people.
Crab Meat Recipes: The Finished Product.
The smell from the crab was intoxicating. I ate a few pieces of dungeness crab before everything was brought together. The pasta taste delicious once the lemon was squeezed on top. I had three friends over for lunch and everyone complemented on how delicious the crab pasta was.
All of the crab recipe was found in my kitchen so I did not need to go out and purchase anything except the fresh lemons. Total cost of this meal was estimated at under $3.00. Time spent (not including crabbing time and peeling time) is at roughly 15 minutes.
