One of the most popular ways of eating crabs is to simply steam or boil them. This method of preparing crabs has been done for years and will still be a popular way of preparing crabs for decades to come. What makes this way of preparing crab so popular? The simplicity of it is very attracting and appealing to most that is on a time budget.
The most convenient way would be to simply soak the crabs in water to allow any sand or dirt to fall off. Once soaked for about five to ten minutes, throw the entire live crab into the boiling pot and allow it to boil for 20 minutes. Once done boiling, peel away the shell and throw away the crab guts and liquids located inside the shell. Once done, the crab meat is ready to be peeled and consumed with your favorite crab cake dipping sauce or any other crab dip recipes.
If you choose to steam the crabs, the same steps apply with regards to soaking them for five to ten minutes. The only difference is to remove the shell from the body before cooking and while the crab is still alive. This may take some effort and strength. You make more space in your steamer by removing the shell from the body.
